While Northwind primarily focuses on supporting our client’s composite needs, we gladly offer general machining services. We are setup and able to handle a wide range of machining work from aluminum, high alloy steels, stainless, cast iron, and anything in between. We have two CNC’s to leverage as well as basic bench lathe capabilities. Both CNC’s are highly capable in their own right but each are setup to handle different materials and needs.
While we do some production CNC work, our real bread and butter is short turn R&D machining and job-shop work. We are able to machine from supplied 3D files and are also able to take your napkin sketches and turn them into final parts. Additionally, we recognize that some parts require full traceability and conformity while some parts just need to work and we’ll work accordingly with you to get the project done as it makes the most sense.
Our large platform CNC router can handle non-ferrous work up through 5ft x 12ft x 1.5ft. It has been custom built to handle large contouring operations in addition to standard flat pattern router work. Additionally, it has a 4th axis rotary which is able to spin stock up to 17in diameter and 10ft long.
Our Haas VF-2SS is a traditional cabinet style CNC and is a metallics work horse. It has a working envelope of 30in x 16in x 16in and can handle just about anything we can load onto the table.
